If you think about the total amount of time we spend at work, over 84k hours in our lifetime, then things can sometimes go wrong. Most of them can be sorted out amicably and without having to resort to any formal processes. But sometimes when problems arise you may need to raise a formal grievance. It could be you have a problem with the way you are being treated by your line manager or the role you are being asked to do.
The Grievance Procedure will normally require you to set out your concerns in writing. Your employer must then arrange for a formal meeting to be held to discuss your concerns and proposed solutions. Just thinking about starting the Grievance Procedure is daunting for many employees but it may be the only way to resolve certain issues.
The Advocate Partners can help you navigate this difficult process and can offer you advice and support through all the stages. We will help you draft your initial grievance letter and produce the written statement that will form the basis of your grievance. The importance of that statement can’t be overestimated.
An Advocate Partner Representative will be assigned to your case, and they will attend the Grievance Meeting to present your case to the Hearing Manager.
If you are unhappy with the Hearing Manager’s decision in your case, you can Appeal. We will help you respond to the Hearing Manager’s decision letter and will draft a new written statement. We will also attend the Appeal Hearing to present your case.
