We normally see two types of performance related issues. Firstly, is when an employee is given a lower performance rating than they think they deserve. A lower performance rating can mean losing pay increases, bonuses, and promotion opportunities. Some employers use performance ratings as part of their redundancy process. Secondly, is where an employee’s performance is criticised by their Line Manager. In many cases this is part of a process of trying to manage the employee out of the business.
If you believe your performance is being criticised unfairly then it is important that you challenge that quickly and robustly. Simply hoping that the problem goes away never works and the sooner you deal with it the better will be the outcome.
At The Advocate Partners, we can help protect your interests by advising, supporting, and representing you in any internal meetings. As soon as performance becomes an issue it’s important that you contact us as soon as possible to discuss how we can help protect you.
